Philip grew up in South Africa before immigrating to Canada in 1989. While in South Africa Philip won the South African Junior Championships three times, and the Junior World twice while representing South Africa in the USA. In 1982 Philip attended Lamar University in Texas on a Golf Scholarship and while Lamar he won 7 collegiate tournaments. In 1986 Philip was chosen as a NCAA 1st Team All American. In 1986 Philip turned Professional and later that year he qualified for the US PGA Tour. During his sixteen year playing career Philip was a member of the Canadian, Asian, South African and South American Tours. Philip won four times on three different Tour's and is still ranked 5th on the Canadian Tours All Time Money List. Towards the end of 2002 Philip decided it was time to spend more time with his family and pursue his other passion Teaching Golf. Philip enjoys teaching all levels of golfers and his stable of students includes Tour Professionals, some juniors who have represented their Countries internationally, but he also loves introducing beginners to the great game of golf. Since becoming a Teaching Professional Philip has twice been named BCPGA Player of the Year including victories in the BCPGA and twice in the Canadian PGA Assistants. In 2005 and 2006 Philip was an on Course Television reporter for TSN/CTV at The Canadian Open.
